Turkey Run was founded in 1974 by knifemaker Pete Bergeron in Galeton, Pennsylvania. Pete started making knives part-time as a hobby while working full-time at a local factory As his skills improved, people started taking notice of his handmade hunting and fishing knives

Within just a couple of years, there was enough demand for Pete’s knives that he decided to leave his factory job and focus solely on knifemaking. The fledgling company was aptly named after Turkey Run State Park located just a few miles from Pete’s workshop.

In the early days, it was just Pete handcrafting every part of the knives. But as orders increased, he brought on apprentices and expanded operations Even with a growing team, every knife was still made completely in-house from raw materials.

Over the decades, Turkey Run continued gaining popularity for its broad line-up of quality outdoor and tactical knives. Sadly, Pete Bergeron passed away in 2017. But the company he founded over 40 years ago lives on under new ownership today.

Made in the USA

A key aspect of Turkey Run’s brand identity is that all knives are 100% made in the USA From cutting raw steel to final sharpening and etching, every step of the manufacturing process takes place at their facility in Pennsylvania

Most of the metal used is premium American-made 154CM or 440C stainless steel bar stock. For handles, Turkey Run uses materials like exotic hardwoods, stag, bone, and stabilized wood. This results in tough, corrosion resistant blades paired with durable and attractive handle scales.

The knifemakers employ both automated machines and hand techniques to fabricate and finish each component. Modern technology like CNC machining allows for precise cutting of blades. But hand-polishing and etching add that custom, handcrafted touch.
