You can also make these ahead of time, so if you want to get ahead on Thanksgiving, you can. They’ll stay good in the fridge for about three days.

Overview on Chocolate Strawberry Turkeys
Chocolate strawberry turkeys involve fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate to form the turkey’s body with marshmallows and pretzels acting as the legs. The end result is a whimsical creative spin on traditional chocolate-covered strawberries that kids and adults will love.
Chocolate strawberry turkeys are ideal for Thanksgiving, but could also be made for other holidays like Easter or even a fun classroom party treat. Their vibrant colors and turkey-shape make them perfect for fall and Thanksgiving decor. Step-By-Step Guide on Making Chocolate Strawberry Turkeys
Here is a step-by-step guide walking you through the easy process of making picture-perfect chocolate strawberry turkeys at home:
Ingredients Needed
- Fresh strawberries (make sure they are dry and chilled)
- Milk chocolate and/or dark chocolate
- White chocolate
- Coconut oil
- Pretzel sticks
- Mini marshmallows
- Waxed paper
- Toothpicks or lollipop sticks
Directions
-
Make the legs: Break pretzel sticks in half and slide a mini marshmallow onto the top of each pretzel half to form the “thigh”. Make 24 legs total.
-
Attach legs: Melt milk/dark chocolate with a bit of coconut oil, then dip one half of each marshmallow in the chocolate. Adhere the chocolate-covered marshmallows to either side of the strawberries to form legs. Place on waxed paper and let chocolate set completely.
-
Coat strawberries: Insert a toothpick into the top of each strawberry. Dip each strawberry into the melted milk/dark chocolate mixture until fully coated. Let excess drip off and return to waxed paper to harden.
-
Add white chocolate feet: Melt white chocolate with a bit of coconut oil. Once chocolate strawberries have hardened, dip the ends of the pretzel “legs” in white chocolate to form feet. Allow to set.
-
Decorate (optional): Add extra decorations as desired, like chocolate chip eyes or an orange candy corn beak. Get creative!
And that’s it – your adorable chocolate strawberry turkeys are ready to delight guests! For best results, store them in the fridge until ready to serve. Let them sit out 10 minutes before serving if you prefer them slightly softened.

What ingredients you need to make Chocolate Covered Strawberry Turkeys:
- Large strawberries – I don’t recommend using frozen strawberries. For these, please use fresh strawberries. The ones with the pointier ends work best in terms of shape.
- Not big marshmallows, please; the small ones will work just fine.
- Pickle sticks—I used gluten-free pickle sticks, but any kind will do.
- You can use milk chocolate or semisweet chocolate chips instead of dark chocolate chips.
- White chocolate chips—you don’t have to put them on the tips of the legs, but I love how they look.
How to make strawberry turkeys:
- Rinse and pat the strawberries dry and set aside
- Use bamboo or popsicle sticks to poke holes in the top of the strawberries.
- If you don’t, the pretzel sticks will be too long. Cut off about 1/4 of the top of two of them.
- Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or on the stove. Then, dip one side of the marshmallow into the chocolate and press it onto each side of the strawberry. Hold for 10 to 15 seconds.
- Do this with the rest of the strawberries and put them in the fridge to set (do not skip this step).
- Dip the strawberries in melted chocolate and shake off the extra chocolate once the legs are set.
- Place on parchment paper and repeat for remaining “turkeys”
- Put it in the fridge for 10 minutes to set, then melt the white chocolate.
- The tips of the legs should be dipped in white chocolate. Put the chocolate back in the fridge to harden, and then enjoy!
