The huge amount of stuff babies need is one of the worst things about traveling with them. When I come to their house, my parents always make fun of me by saying it looks like I’m moving in. Bottles, burp cloths, toys, high chair, bibs, diapers, clothes, car seat, stroller, carrier, and the list goes on. Before you know it, your car (or suitcase) is stuffed to the brim with baby necessities. As you might expect, I love it when I discover a product that either makes me need less stuff or takes up less room in my car, suitcase, or home. The phil

Supplies You’ll Need
Before starting. gather these cleaning supplies
- Mild dish soap
- Washcloths
- Soft-bristled cleaning brush
- Bucket or sink basin
- Towels
- Disinfectant wipes or spray (optional)
The Lobster chair has two main parts requiring cleaning the fabric seat and the plastic tray Let’s look at how to clean each section properly
Step 1: Remove the Tray
The dishwasher-safe plastic tray attaches between the “claws” of the chair frame. Detach it by lifting up and sliding out.
Wash the tray separately to avoid getting the fabric seat wet.
Step 2: Clean the Tray
You can clean the tray two ways:
Dishwasher: Place the tray on the top rack of the dishwasher. Use regular dishwasher detergent and the normal cycle.
Hand wash: Fill a sink or bucket with warm water and add a small squirt of mild dish soap. Swish the tray around to dissolve the soap. Use a soft brush or sponge to gently scrub off any stuck-on food. Rinse thoroughly.
Set the clean tray aside to air dry completely.
Step 3: Spot Clean the Fabric
For most messes, you can spot clean the fabric seat right on the chair frame.
Dip a washcloth in your warm, soapy water. Wring out excess moisture so the fabric doesn’t get too wet.
Gently blot and scrub stained or soiled areas. Take care not to pull or stress the fabric.
Rinse with a fresh wet cloth. Pat dry with a towel. Allow the fabric to air dry fully before reattaching the tray.
Step 4: Remove the Fabric for a Deep Clean
For a more thorough cleaning, remove the seat fabric from the frame. Unfortunately, this requires a special tool, which doesn’t come with the chair.
With the fabric removed, toss it in your bucket of warm, soapy water. Let it soak briefly to loosen stuck-on gunk.
Swish the fabric around, then scrub it all over with a soft brush. Drain dirty water and refill the bucket for rinsing.
Once the fabric is clean, wring it out gently. Air dry fully. This may take several hours.
Step 5: Disinfect the Tray
For extra germ removal, periodically disinfect the tray and seat fabric.
Use disinfectant wipes or spray registered by the EPA as effective against viruses and bacteria. Closely follow label directions.
Let disinfectant sit for the recommended contact time before wiping. Allow all components to fully air dry.
Step 6: Reattach the Tray
Once everything is completely dry, it’s safe to reassemble your Lobster chair.
Slide the tray back between the “claws,” pushing down until it clicks securely in place.
Your Phil and Ted’s Lobster chair is ready for baby’s next mealtime adventure!

Setting up the phil&teds Lobster high chair
When I unboxed the phil&teds Lobster high chair, it was neatly zipped up into its carrying case. I removed it from the case and simply loosened the clamps until they were wide enough to clip onto the table. Then, I tightened them. Once they were secure, all I had to do was put my little guy in there and buckle him in. I must admit, I was a little nervous to put my baby in a chair that was hanging from a table, but it turned out to be very sturdy. After he was strapped in, I slid the little plastic tray between the clamps, and it was all ready to go.
The pictures were very clear and showed how to properly set up the seat, buckle up the straps, remove the fabric for cleaning, and use the seat in the right way and the wrong way (e.g. g. not using it with a tablecloth, etc). Note: I liked reading the manual because it was easy to understand and also because it was clearly written by someone with a sense of humor! For example, they said that their customer service team is made up of “real live people.” ).
Features of the phil&teds Lobster high chair
The phil Your child probably would have moved from a high chair to a booster seat anyway when he or she reached 33 pounds.
The chair itself is surprisingly lightweight, but robust. The seat and straps are padded for comfort. You can wipe down the chair’s fabric with a cloth or take it off and wash it by hand in warm water.
The seat comes with a small, super light plastic tray that can be washed in the sink or wiped down with a cloth. The phil&teds Lobster high chair comes in a few different colours, including Apple (the green colour I was sent to review), Black, Red, and Black/Red. My personal favourite is the Black/Red combination.
